Twenty years a-growin’ and still inspirational for the residents

WOODSTOWN Village in Knocklyon celebrated the estate’s 20th anniversary with a bumper residents’ day this month, which highlighted the positive impact of neighbours working together.

Organised by the Woodstown Village Residents’ Association, with support from those living in the area, the event marked the area’s 20th year – and the growth and community spirit that has flourished in the estate over the years.

With more than 600 houses, which are home to over 2,000 residents, Woodstown Village is a very vibrant area – with a very active residents’ association.

According to Independent councillor Deirdre O’Donovan, between 75 and 80 per cent of those living in the area are members of the residents’ association – a unity which helps to create community spirit, enhance the look of the estate, encourage participation in the maintenance of the area and help to reduce crime.

“The residents’ association in Woodstown Village really is inspirational and a great example of what can be achieved when people come together,” Cllr O’Donovan said.

“The community is so committed to where they live and how they live and the comradery last week was unreal.”
