Two long-time Clondalkin friends scoop €65,000 in lottery win

TWO old friends from Clondalkin celebrated this weekend as they received confirmation that they had won the National Lottery’s Match Five bonus prize of €65,718.
The winning ticket was purchased at Mannion’s Newsagents in Clondalkin on the day of the draw.
One of the women said: “We’ve been playing lotto religiously together for nearly three decades and we’ve always dreamed about winning a top prize.
“The win is made that much sweeter knowing that I’ve won with my best friend.”
The pair explained their plans for the money, saying: “It may not sound like a life-changing sum of money to win but we’ll certainly put it to good use.
“We will be dividing the win among children and grandchildren but we’ll make sure that we get some enjoyment out of it ourselves.”
The National Lottery funds numerous communities, projects and individuals in the areas of youth, sports, recreation, amenities, health, welfare, arts, culture, national heritage and the Irish language.
In 2016 alone more than €210 million was collected from the purchase of tickets and distributed to worthy organisations.
