Two teenagers arrested after firearms seized in Tallaght

UPDATE: The 19-year-old man and male juvenile arrested in relation to the seizure of a firearm in Tallaght on the 23rd July 2021 have been released without charge.

A Garda statement released this morning said: “A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. Gardai say investigations are ongoing.”

TWO teenagers were arrested today, Wednesday, July 28, and are currently being detained at Tallaght Garda Station following the seizure of two firearms during a search operation at an address in Tallaght.

The search operation was carried out last Friday, July 23, and following further investigations, a 19-year-old male and a 17-year-old male juvenile were arrested today in relation to the seizure of the firearms.

Both males are currently detained at Tallaght Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

A statement issued by gardaí reads: “As part of an intelligence led operation, Gardaí conducted a search of a property in the Tallaght area on Friday 23rd July 2021, shortly after 4pm.

“Two shotguns were recovered from the property during the search operation. Both firearms have been sent to the Ballistics Unit for analysis.”

Investigations are ongoing, according to the statement.
