Unable to view CCTV – Family frustration over missing sister

THE sister of a woman missing for nine years, has expressed frustration that gardai will not allow her to see CCTV footage that may identify her sibling.
On February 23, 2011, Esra Uryun left her Collinstown Grove home in Clondalkin at 7.20am to get milk for her husband Osgar and son Emin.

She was never seen again.
Her car, a Grey Renault Twingo, registration number 08-D-23067, was found later that day on the promenade in Bray.
Esra’s handbag containing €50-60, was found in the boot on the car.
Berna Fidan, Esra’s sister, has been over to Dublin over 30 times since that ill-fated day in an effort to uncover the truth, and firmly suspects two things (1) foul play and (2) somebody knows something.
Speaking to gardai on Thursday, Berna was informed they have decided to review the case, revisiting contacts, exploring any scenarios or loopholes that may have been missed.
“While I appreciate that, this is year nine, why didn’t they do this earlier,” said Berna.
Of greater concern to Berna and her friend Ilknur, who always travels to Dublin with her from London, is that they are unable to view CCTV footage of Esra’s last movements, due to data protection issues.
“They will only show footage if gardai are in two minds (reviewing the footage), if they think it is Esra. But we know her, know her movements.”
There are nine cameras that gardai are looking at for movement of the Twingo, including cameras in Neilstown, at the Power City roundabout, and in Bray.
“We just want to see a bit of footage, we are not asking a lot,” said Berna.
