VIDEO: Tallaght man plays his part in family’s emotional reunion with stolen dog

A WEXFORD family has been reunited with their family pet six months after she was stolen, thanks to a Tallaght man who alerted the Dublin SPCA about a dog in distress in Ellensborough.

Coco the Bichon Frise was spotted by Tallaght native Harry Farrell last Thursday morning when he noticed the little dog on the road and “her hair was all matted, and there were bits of hair coming away from her skin”.

Harry, his wife and their children gave Coco, who he described as being “very fragile”, treats, food and water and contacted the DSPCA about the distressed pooch.

Luckily for little Coco she was microchipped, which resulted in her being able to be reunited with her owners.

Harry said his nine-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter were “over the moon” when they saw the video of Coco’s emotional reunion with her family on Facebook.

Lorna Swift from the DSPCA told Echo.ie that, “Coco was lucky because she was microchipped.

“A lot of people who call me who’ve lost their dogs, the first thing I say to them is, ‘Is the dog microchipped?’

“A lot of the time they say they had been meaning to get it done but they never got around to it.

“My advice is, don’t put it off anymore.”

The DSPCA are running a €15 special for microchipping for the month April, by appointment only by call them on 01 499 4780.
