Vine Group host Living Passion series of events

THE Vine Group is inviting people to take part in their Living Passion events to mark Holy Week, after their Easter celebrations last year were “spiritual and successful virtual events”, reports Aideen O’Flaherty.

The Tallaght-based group is made up of parishioners from the Church of the Incarnation in Fettercairn, St Thomas the Apostle in Jobstown and St Mary’s Priory in Tallaght Village, and they hold events throughout the year.

They mark every Easter with their Living Passion series of events, beginning on Palm Sunday (March 28) with an opening statement from Bishop Eamonn Walsh and a service in St Maelruain’s and Mass in St Mark’s, with more events leading up to Mass in St Mark’s on Easter Sunday (April 4).

When the pandemic struck last year, the group held the Living Passion online, and are looking forward to doing the same again this year.

Joe Geoghegan from The Vine Group told The Echo: “[Last year] all the churches had to close and move their masses online, so with very short notice the Vine Group Living Passion had to go online.

“We had our first virtual Living Passion, but with this situation we found that we were reaching and collaborating with people all over the world, and the Living Passion was a spiritual and successful virtual event.

“A year on, we are still in restrictions but with the rollout of vaccines there is light at the end of the tunnel, and with this in mind the vine group have titled the 2021 Living Passion ‘The Road to Resurrection’.

“This year, we have known for some time that the Living Passion would again be online. We have been able to arrange a full and spiritual programme, that will certainly help make Holy Week the faith-filled journey it should be.”

For the full list of Living Passion events, including a ‘Tallaght Camino’ from 3pm to 5pm on Monday, visit the Vine Mass Facebook page, email the Vine Group at vinemass@gmail.com or contact Joe on 087 656 9223.

Joe added: “We are aware that people are missing the church and masses and services that enrich their lives, and with that in mind we have arranged masses, services and statements from multiple Christian groups as we are an ecumenical group.

“There really is so much for people to get involved with so they aren’t just watching but taking part.”
