THE Vine Group will be livestreaming two performances of their musical ‘A Christmas Canticle’ from two Tallaght churches this weekend, to raise funds for their ‘Help Us Help Others’ appeal.

The Tallaght-based group is made up of parishioners from the Church of the Incarnation in Fettercairn, St Thomas the Apostle in Jobstown and St Mary’s Priory in Tallaght Village, and they will perform in St Mary’s Priory and St Mark’s Church in Springfield on Friday and Sunday evening respectively.

While these performances won’t be open to the public, they will be livestreamed for all to see on the Vine Mass Facebook page, and viewers will be encouraged to donate to the group’s ‘Help Us Help Others’ appeal, to help support struggling people who avail of local conferences of St Vincent de Paul.

Joe Geoghegan from The Vine Group told The Echo: “The Vine Group is privileged to be once again performing ‘A Christmas Canticle’ to raise money for the ‘Help Us Help Others’ campaign.

“The money raised goes to families in need coming up to Christmas. We do this with the advice of local conferences of St Vincent de Paul – and every cent raised goes to helping families.”

Describing ‘A Christmas Canticle’, which was written by Dublin composer Mick Langan, Joe said: “It is a beautiful and engaging musical based on the nativity, and really captures the story of the birth of Christ.”

‘A Christmas Canticle’ will be performed on Friday, December 11, in St Mary’s Priory at 8.15 pm, and will be streamed live on The Vine Mass Facebook page and the St Mary’s Priory webcam.

The second performance of ‘A Christmas Canticle’ will be on Sunday, December 13, in St Mark’s Church in Springfield at 8pm, and it will be streamed live on The Vine Mass Facebook page and on the St Mark’s webcam.

Donations for the ‘Help Us Help Others’ campaign can be made in person in the St Mark’s Parish Office, or online via GoFundMe at www.tinyurl.com/VineGroup
