Walk into the Light for your loved ones

Walk into the Light for your loved ones

A WALK into Light event is being staged in Tallaght this September 10 at 6am to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.

The Tree of Hope team is behind the event, which is inviting the community to walk together in support of those who have lost their lives to suicide, the families and friends left behind with the loss, and those living with mental health issues.

Bohernabreena Reservoir Walk into the light

The 5km walk will leave St Anne’s GAA Club in Bohernabreena at 6am on Saturday, September 10, and meander through the Bohernbareena water-works and the beautiful valley of Glenasmole.

Supported by St Anne’s and Shane Smith Fitness, participants are also invited to make a donation to the Tree of Hope on the morning.

Noeleen Fulham, of Tree of Hope, told The Echo: “The walk will start at 6am from St Anne’s GAA grounds in Bohernabreena and we will walk into the light together up to the stunning Bohernabreena water works, where we’ll have a mini-vigil with music, song, poetry and a balloon release at the Tree Of Hope that we planted there last year.

“We will then walk back to St Anne’s club where there will be refreshments for all.

“There is no charge for this walk, but if people would like to donate on the day to the Tree Of Hope that would be great and would help us to continue to plant more trees.

“However, it’s really more important to us for people to come out and walk together in support of all those sadly gone too soon, the loved ones left behind to cope with the loss, and, of course, to support people living with mental health issues.”
