Westside dances to world success
WESTSIDE Performing Arts in Dublin enjoyed a “remarkable” Dance World Cup 2026 Finals in Dublin this summer, explains a spokesperson of the Lucan-based performing arts school.
A team of 70 dancers brought home an impressive 18 medals, six gold, six silver and six bronze.
The achievement contributed to a “hugely successful” competition for Team Ireland, which was represented by over 1000 dancers from 55 schools and finished fifth in the country standings out of 60 nations, winning a total of 50 medals, 12 gold, 16 silver and 22 bronze.
Westside’s outstanding results placed the school as Ireland’s leading performing arts school at the championships and were the result of months of dedication, hard work and commitment from the dancers, teachers and families involved. Competing on home soil in Dublin, the Westside team proudly represented their school and Ireland on the world stage, creating a “memorable week of performances, celebrations and achievements”.
Westside would like to sincerely thank all of the dancers, teachers, choreographers, parents, families and supporters who helped make this incredible achievement possible. Special thanks go to Celtic Contractors for generously sponsoring the team kit and helping the dancers look and feel like a team as they represented Ireland on the world stage.
The excitement continues for Westside, with dancers heading to the Can You Dance? (CYD?) Convention in Liverpool from October 17 to 18, followed by a team trip to the Press Play Dance Convention in Paris at Easter.
The school will also present its annual Pre-Pro Dance Showcase in May, before returning to The Helix for its biennial school production over the October bank holiday weekend.
