Wild Youth needs your votes to make Eurovision final
A LOCAL band will be taking to the stage tonight for the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest – and they need your votes to make it to the coveted final of the popular competition.
Wild Youth, composed of Callum McAdam from Jobstown, Ed Porter from Springfield, David Whelan, and Conor O’Donohue, will be performing their anthemic and uplifting track ‘We Are One’.
They soared up to the top of the leader board at a special edition of the ‘Last Late Show’ last February, when they were selected by judges and a public vote to represent Ireland at Eurovision.
The band is now hoping to reach the final of the contest on Saturday, May 13, in Liverpool, but need the public’s support to make their Eurovision dream a reality.
Drummer Callum McAdam, who is a past pupil of St Mark’s Community School, previously told The Echo about the whirlwind of Wild Youth being picked to represent Ireland in the popular song contest.
“It was the best feeling ever, and especially being there with my musical brothers and knowing all of the work that we’d put in to get to that point, and seeing the result was really gratifying,” he said.
“When the public voted for us and pushed us through – even people that we’d never met – were at home and voted for us and took the time to help us reach our dream, we can never thank them enough.
“We want to make sure we put on the best show for everyone that has supported us.”
The band is once again relying on the public’s backing to allow them to progress through the semi-final tonight so they can compete in the Eurovision final.
The Eurovision semi-final at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena begins on RTÉ One, RTÉ Radio 1 and the RTÉ Player at 8pm tonight when details on how to vote for Wild Youth will be released.
