GARDAI at Lucan are this afternoon appealing for information following a fatal shooting in the Clondalkin area last night.
Shortly after 10pm on Monday, gardai and emergency services were alerted after a man (30s) was shot and seriously injured as he sat in a car outside a house at Harelawn Park.
In a statement released, Gardai said: “The injured man was treated at the scene by gardai and emergency services personnel but was pronounced dead a short time later.
“The scene was preserved overnight and is currently being examined by members of the Garda Technical Bureau.
“The office of the State Pathologist and local Coroner were notified and a post-mortem examination has been arranged.”
Gardai said that a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been assigned to lead the investigation from the Incident Room at Lucan Garda Station.
A Garda Family Liason Officer (FLO) has also been appointed to liaise with the family of the deceased.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses, in particular anyone who was in the vicinity of Harelawn Park between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on Monday, December 5, to come forward.
They are also appealing to those with camera footage and or dashcam footage from the area at the time to make it available to gardai.
