Woman charged with stealing over €17,000 has non-appearance due to fall in a bog
A FALL in a bog led to a non-appearance in Tallaght Court for a woman charged with stealing over €17,000 from an employee Social club.
Nicola Henry, aged 30, with an address at Kingston Heights, Ballinteer, is charged with 56 charges of stealing various sums of cash totalling €17,326.85 from a named male on dates in 2014 and 2015.
She also is charged with 10 counts of attempting to lodge a forged cheque in her name on dates in 2014 and 2015 and with six charges of making a false instrument.
Henry was represented by her solicitor, Padraig O’Donovan.
The court had previously heard that the DPP had directed trial on indictment.
There was no appearance from Henry when her case was called.
Her defence lawyer, Padraig O’Donovan, told Judge Patricia McNamara that he had just got a message that his client had injured herself falling in a bog. He asked for a week’s remand.
Sergeant Eithne Madden consented to the application.
Judge McNamara remanded Henry on continuing bail for a week for service of her book of evidence.
