Woman dies after being struck by car in the early-hours

A WOMAN has died after being struck by a car in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Members of An Garda Síochána are appealing for witnesses following the road traffic collision between a pedestrian and a car at Davitt Road in Drimnagh.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision at around 1:45am this morning, Sunday, October 31.

The pedestrian, who is a woman believed to be in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time after emergency services arrived.

The woman’s body has been transported to the Dublin City Morgue in Whitehall.

A post-mortem examination is set to be carried out.

This morning, a Garda spokesperson said: “The scene has been examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since reopened.

“Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this collision to come forward.

“They are particularly appealing to anyone with camera footage (including dashcam) from the Davitt Road area between 1am and 1.45am to contact them.”
