Woman hospitalised with stab wounds following Clondalkin mugging

GARDAI are investigating after a woman was hospitalised with stab wounds following an attempted mugging in Clondalkin last night.

According to gardai, a woman in her thirties was approached by a male in the Mill Park area of Clondalkin on the Old Nangor Road at around 10pm last night (Friday, March 30).

During an attempt by the male to rob the woman’s bag, the victim received non-life threatening stab wounds to her hand and leg.

The male fled the scene without the bag. 

In a statement to The Echo today, a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are investigating a robbery which occurred in Mill Park, Clondalkin on 30 March 2018 at approximately 10pm.

“A woman in her 30s was approached by a male who tried to take her handbag.

“She received non- life threatening stab wounds to her hand and leg and was taken to Tallaght Hospital.”

Gardai confirmed that no arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing – with any witnessess encouraged to come forward. 

An official discription of the male is not available. 

Clondalkin councillor Francis Timmons has encouraged people to exercise caution in the area and urged anyone with information, or who saw anything suspicious, to call Clondalkin Garda Station on 6667600.
