Women’s shed raise over €460 for hospice

A “super amount” of over €460 was raised on a morning of cakes, cuppas and chats at The Park Community Centre for Our Lady’s Hospice in Harolds Cross.

The fundraiser was organised by Ann Byrne from Women’s Shed at The Park for its second year, alongside The Park Community Centre manager Tricia Saab.

“It was a great atmosphere and it was wonderful to see 40 of our women turn up to support this very worthy cause,” said Women’s Shed at The Park chairperson Eileen White. “It is always a great sense of accomplishment to give back to the community.”

“With thanks to our very generous members we raised over €462. We were very grateful to have the support and attendance of Councillor Alan Edge and John Lahart T.D.

“Additionally, this event would not have been possible without the support of Tricia Saab and all the wonderful staff at The Park Community Centre where we meet every week for the Women’s Shed.”

Women’s Shed at the Park was established in November 2022 to “facilitate connection for all women in the community.”

According to Eileen, in these two years it has already seen its members “support many good causes and charities like Ballycullen Food Bank, Trustus, Women’s Aid and Team Hope.”

The group meet every Tuesday at The Park Community Centre from 10am to 12 noon.
