Youth service remembers Davy

TRIBUTES were paid this week to former Ballyfermot Youth Service (BYS) board member and minibus driver David (Davy) Lynch, who died on May 19.

Mr Lynch, an Elmdale Crescent resident and former Galco Steel worker, was fondly remembered for his work with youths in the community.

A social media post by BYS paid condolences to the family of Mr Lynch who died after long illness.

“Davy was a former member of our board of management but also, more important, he was a friend to all the young people in BYS. Davy drove our minibus and took young people all over Ireland and Europe. He was extremely generous with his time and always had a kind word for everyone. He will be missed, Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam,” said BYS.

Residents paid tribute to Mr Lynch online, recalling a “great gentleman” and a “one of a kind” who was a “great friend to all.”

A message on RIP.ie said: Mr Lynch passed away peacefully on May 19 in the care of the staff in Cherry Orchard Hospital, Beech unit.

“Beloved husband of Deidre and loving Dad of Gillian and Aaron, sadly missed by his wife, son, daughter, granddaughter Pearl, brothers Maurice and Terry, sister Trudy, daughter-in-law Shauna, extended family and many friends.

A funeral service took place on Wednesday, May 22, at St Matthew’s Church, Ballyfermot.
