150 Google scholarships announced for young people

GOOGLE Scholarships for Ballyfermot and Cherry Orchard have been announced through the City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB).

A total of 150 scholarships for the new Google Career Certificates have been announced for young people to learn skills and to train for the workforce and well-paid jobs.

The scholarships will be available from the middle of September and are part of Google’s initiative to provide 100,000 scholarships across Europe, Middle East and Africa that cover the monthly cost of Coursera courses.

Ireland will be receiving 1,000 scholarships.

Google and CDETB, with the aid of St Andrew’s resource centre supporting learners within the locality of Google HQ will be supporting learners engage in the four certificate courses.

The four courses available through the scholarships are Google IT Support Professional Certificate, Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate, Google Project Management Professional Certificate and Google UX Design Professional Certificate.

You do not need to have relevant experience or a degree to be eligible for the scholarship and each course can be completed in four to six weeks if undertaken full-time but must be completed by December 15.
