PLANS for the development of 345 apartments at the former Cable and Wireless site at the junction of Airton Road and Belgard Road in Tallaght require “further consideration/amendment”, according to An Bord Pleanála (ABP).

The plans for the Strategic Housing Development (SHD) were lodged with ABP by Power Scaffolding Supplies Limited last April through the fast-track scheme.

Recently introduced fast-track legislation means developers can apply directly to ABP for planning permission, following a pre-application consultation with South Dublin County Council.

The government brought the new fast-track legislation into effect last year in response to the housing crisis, and the legislation applies to SHDs, which are large-scale housing developments.

The developer is seeking permission for the construction of 345 apartments, a crèche, and a media and business centre, with provision for all associated site works.

On May 29 last, ABP ruled that that the application “requires further consideration/amendment”.
