A BUDGET of €50,000 has been set aside for tree maintenance, including tree pruning and removal, to be carried out on St Joseph’s Road in Greenhills this autumn.

South Dublin County Council stated this in response to a question submitted by Social Democrat councillor Dermot Looney at this month’s meeting of the Rathfarnham/Templeogue-Terenure Area Committee.

Cllr Looney asked for details about tree maintenance on St Joseph’s Road, with the local authority responding, in part, by stating: “Prior to any work taking place, the trees will be surveyed in order to prepare a detailed programme of tree works to be carried out.

“Tree planting on St Joseph’s Road has been included in the 2019 Improvement Works Programme.

“This will involve the preparation of a tender for the overall design and construction preparation of tree planting pits along the road which will also accommodate the significant adverse challenges including narrow roads, widening of residential driveways, on-street resident car-parking, traffic, overhead wires and underground utility cables located within narrow grass and roadside margins.”
