60 complaints to council of ‘burning smells’

THERE have been over 60 complaints to South Dublin County Council over “burning smells” in the Lucan area, the Lucan area meeting of SDCC heard.

Councillor Danny O’Brien put down a motion asking the Chief Executive “for a report on the burning smell around the area of the Kishoge Train Station and Adamstown link road. How many complaints have the Council received from residents in the area so far?”

The Council replied: “Initially, most of the over 60 complaints that were received had referred to 'burning smells' in the Lucan area and from contacts made with complainants the precise location(s) of the burning was not known to them. However, through investigation, including the use of a drone, the exact locations were identified.”

The Council said that action has been taken against a landowner in respect of lands at 12th Lock and it is envisaged that the issue at this location will be resolved in the coming days.

They added that they are currently preparing for further action in relation to the significant number of recent incidents on lands behind Tullyhall.
