It will boost services for those working with young people combatting addiction, younger members of the travelling community as well as those providing sports, recreation and other activities in our local areas.

Minister Zappone said: “Each of the local services receiving the money will be able to use it for small building works – including upgrades of meeting rooms, kitchens and bathrooms.

“The fact that so much funding has once again been allocated to the South Dublin County Council area is a tribute to the dedication, passion and skills of those youth leaders working with our teenagers and young people.

They are literally transforming lives.

“The largest local grant, €20,000 is going to CARP which operates supports for young people with addictions from its base in Killinarden.

“There is also significant funding for the Tallaght Travellers Youth Service as well as organisations in Lucan, Clondalkin and Ronanstown.

“Lucan Youth Service will receive €10,540.61, Youth Workers Ronanstown will receive €9,978.70 Ronanstown Youth Service is to get €16,333.05.

“Tallaght Travellers Youth Service will receive €5,198.8 and the  Clondalkin Youth Service will receive €11,073.

She added: “Since my election and my appointment as an Independent Minister I have been determined to reverse the cuts which have impacted on our youth services.

“This year I am proud that we have invested a total of €61.5m in current and capital funding in clubs, services and supports.”
