74 apartments allocated to eligible cost rental tenants

A TOTAL of 74 apartments at Kilcarbery Grange were allocated by Tuath Housing last week to tenants eligible for cost rental accommodation.

Kilcarbery Grange is a new development between Clondalkin and Lucan which, upon completion, will see over 1,000 mixed-tenure residential units developed on the site.

Among these units are the cost rental units that have been allocated by Tuath, and a spokesperson for the housing body told The Echo: “These homes have been delivered via a combination of funding from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritages’ Cost Rental Equity Loan (CREL) scheme and the Housing Finance Agency (HFA).

“All 74 properties have now been allocated to tenants eligible for cost rental accommodation using a lottery system run on Tuath’s website and have been let at more than 33 per cent discount on current rental levels.

“Kilcarbery Grange is a brand-new development which will consist of more than 1,000 ‘A’ rated, energy-efficient new homes adjacent to the villages of Clondalkin and Lucan.

“This development represents the first truly mixed tenure Strategic Housing Development which on completion will provide social, cost rental, affordable for sale, private rental and owner-occupied accommodation and is an excellent example of public, private and voluntary partnership in action.”

Kilcarbery is a joint venture development of 1,034 residential units on 29 acres of council land.

The venture is being carried out by Adwood Ltd, which is a consortium of established Dublin builders Adroit and Maplewood, and South Dublin County Council.

Kilcarbery was approved by South Dublin County councillors in December 2019. Adwood will pay the council €38m and deliver 310 social housing units at competitive rates over four years, according to the council.
