A crew of 370 participate in Laurels Santa Cycle

THE Dublin Santa Cycle arranged by the Laurels Cycle Crew took place last Sunday, when 370 participants dressed up as Father Christmas met in Clondalkin village to raise money.
Each participant of the group cycle paid a €30 fee, which went directly to CMRF Crumlin (Children’s Medical and Research Foundation).

CMRF with donors and partners funds initiatives, research and projects for CHI Crumlin and The National Children’s Research Centre.
The Santas started their route at Clondalkin village, headed towards Crumlin, where they passed CHI, and finished back in Clondalkin.
“It was a great success with great weather, great atmosphere and a great crowd when we came back,” said Denis McCarthy, co-founder of the Laurels Cycle Crew.
In its sixth year the Santa Cycle received a lot of support and, according to Denis, events like this show “what a great community Clondalkin is”.
You always can “come together to have some fun and do some good”.
During its lifetime of 11 years the Laurels Cycle Crew has managed to raise over €1 million, passing that impressive mark this year.
In 2019 the team raised €85,000, including the €10,000 from last Sunday.
The group tries to follow their goal and “do whatever it takes to help some of Ireland’s sickest children”, Laurels manager Damien Long said ahead of the event.
Finishing the Santa cycle, the Laurels Cycle Crew participants are already looking forward to the annual Galway to Dublin Cycle which will take place over a weekend in April of next year.
