Abberley Hotel sale is delayed

Abberley Hotel sale is delayed

By Mary Dennehy

Finalising the sale of the Abberley Hotel is taking a little longer than expected to get over the dotted-line.
However, The Echo understands that a sale is still agreed – with the new, potential owner still planning on re-opening The Abberley as a hotel.

In May of this year, the Abberley, which opened in 1995 and was Tallaght’s first hotel, closed unexpectedly, with the loss of 70 jobs.

The Abberley is on the NAMA books, with the national assets agency taking a decision to close the business and cease trading, Grant Thornton’s appointed receivers of the landmark hotel.

Grant Thornton had expected the sale to be finalised by the end of October, but The Echo has learned that a number of minor issues need to be ironed out before the deal can be sealed.

None of the minor issues is expected to impact on the sale, which is now believed to reach fruition by the end of the year. Watch this space.
