SOUTH Dublin County Council has requested additional information in relation to alterations to approved plans for the construction of a two-storey data centre at a site on Crag Avenue in Clondalkin Industrial Estate.

Planning permission was previously granted by the council in 2013 for the demolition of the existing logistics centre on site, and the construction of a two-storey data centre and a combined heat and power plant for the data centre.

Applicant Crag Digital Limited is seeking permission for revisions to the removal of two end masts for undergrounding of overhead 38kV power lines, revisions to a security hut, the omission of cooling towers and all revised associated storage tanks.

It is proposed that there will be a revised diversion of an existing 1,200mm diameter arterial sewer as agreed with Irish Water, and all sundry associated minor works.

The applicant stipulated in their application that the development will be consequent on the previously granted planning permission for the demolition of the existing logistics centre and associated ancillary buildings, and the retention of the existing mobile phone mast and ancillary plant.

The council requested additional information on April 27 in relation to a number of documents.

The requested information includes the re-advertisement of the proposed development, that the applicant must contact the Irish Aviation Authority to ascertain the implications of the development on the safety of operations at Casement Aerodrome in Baldonnel, and revised proposals for elevational treatments of the development.

An archaeological assessment of the site will also have to be carried out, and up-to-date bat, otter and badger surveys will also need to be submitted.

The applicant has six months from the date of the council’s request to submit the additional information, if this information isn’t submitted within the six-month timeframe then the application will be considered withdrawn.
