Tallaght AC Relays

Tallaght and DSD AC made the podium in the Dublin Championship's Under 18 Girls 4x200m Relay in Abbotstown.

The Tallaght second team consisting of Katelyn Murphy O’ Neill, Eireann Hayes, Andrea Uchime and Rhasidat Adeleke where chasing in third.

The chance of claiming the gold medals appeared have evaporated when the DSD team established what appeared to be an unassailable lead of over 50m at the final exchange.

And when anchor runner Adeleke received her baton, she looked to be faced with an impossible task, but the World Under 20 Relay silver medallist demonstrated sheer class and an exhilarating turn of foot over the final 200m to close the gap and take the title, even easing down with almost 10m to spare when crossing the finish with the Tallaght second team taking bronze.

The Under 18 boy’s team consisting of Philip Omisore, Peter Nigon, Dylan Byrne and Moses Ikpefua combined very well to take bronze in their 4x200m Final.

Tallaght will have a large number of athletes contest-ing relays and individual track and field contests when they again compete in the Dublin Juvenile Indoor Championships from Friday to Sunday.

In addition to podium placings, qualification for the National Champion-ships in the Under 12 to Under 19 categories will be up for grabs.
