Agreement sought to ensure access roads remain unobstructed
WITH construction underway at the site of the former De La Salle National School in Ballyfermot, an agreement has been sought with Dublin City Council to ensure an access road remains unobstructed for an existing service that caters for vulnerable youths.
Candle Community Trust are located on Lynch’s Lane, which is a designated access route for construction deliveries to the massive development of over 800 apartments at the De La Salle site.
Speaking at the Dublin South central area meeting this week, Cllr Daithi Doolan (SF) said: “Construction will have a direct impact on services, particularly in Lynch’s Lane – which is set to be the access route for delivering concrete to the site. That will have a huge impact on services on that road, particularly the Candle project, which works with our young people in Ballyfermot, Cherry Orchard, and the creche in the resource centre, aswell as the resource centre itself.”
Doolan visited the project last week and was impressed at their work in supporting “hard to reach” youths, but also understood how “gravely impacted” they will be by the level of deliveries coming down the lane.
“Trucks delivering morning, noon and night, which is not really conducive to the services being provided by the Candle project,” he said.
“They have demanded that that routeway be kept clear to the Candle project as well as the resource centre itself.”
Cllr Doolan was looking for the support of Dublin City Council management in ensuring the routeway is kept clear and unobstructed.
His Motion was agreed by members at the meeting.
