Former president of ICA Clair ‘was a very intelligent and interesting person’
FORMER President of the Lucan ICA (Irish Countrywomen’s Association), Clair McBrearty, was remembered as a titan for her work with the organisation, following her passing on February 10.
Ms McBrearty, from Lucan, passed peacefully after a short illness at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown.
A statement by Lucan ICA said: “We were all very sad to have lost a valued, long-time member Clair McBrearty. Clair served as a President, Secretary and International Officer over the years. She was always efficient in whatever task was in hand.
“Clair was a very intelligent and interesting person who loved her crosswords and quizzes.
“She could be relied on for the answers to do with the Royal family, actors in old films, musicals etc.
“André Rieu (Dutch violinist and conductor) being her favourite.
“Clair was a long-standing member of Maynooth and Dunboyne flower club, participated in many competitions and was often a winner, any category except GAA! Clair always enjoyed her day trips away and especially weekends to An Grianan.
“We shall miss Clair in the ICA but are grateful for the long and healthy life we were part of.”
A message on RIP.ie said: “Clair (formerly of Phibsboro) is the beloved wife of the late Patrick (Paddy) and much loved mother of Graeme.
“She will be forever missed by her family, grandkids, neighbours and all her friends from the ICA in Lucan.”
