CLONDALKIN native Aidan Turner has come a long way since working in the UCI Cinema in Tallaght as a teenager.

Turner discovered his love for acting while working in the cinema when he was a student in Firhouse College, according to Gazette Review, who put the Poldark star’s net worth at over €3 million.

The former Cherrywood Grove resident and St Mac Dara’s Community College student crafted his skills at the Dublin Gaiety School of Acting before getting his big break in 2007 with an uncredited appearance in The Tudors.

A steady role in The Clinic in 2008-2009 led to a role in the BBC series Desperate Romantics, and as a vampire in critically acclaimed Being Human (2009-2011).

This brought him to the attention of Director Peter Jackson, who cast Turner in the role of Kili the dwarf in The Hobbit trilogy.

He was routinely touted as a potential prospect to become the new James Bond, before Daniel Craig confirmed he had struck a deal to play 007 in the next movie, out in 2019 and as yet untitled.

Turner’s diversity as an actor has seen him play roles as a vampire, a werewolf and a dwarf, but female fans associate him primarily as the titular character in the BBC revival of the series Poldark, which has been confirmed for a fourth season.
