All eyes on Padraig at the Pat Treacy event in Slade Valley

ALL eyes were on Padraig Harrington when he took part in the Pat Treacy Memorial Team Event in Slade Valley Golf Club last weekend.
Pat Treacy was a very active member of Slade Valley Golf Club and organised the team event every year.

An uncle of Padraig’s wife Caroline, Pat with his family and friends travelled on tour with the professional golfer over the course of his career, starting at his first major back in 1997.
In February 2019, while on a trip with his wife, Pat was rushed to University Hospital Limerick where he died suddenly.
While organising the tournament for this year, Pat’s son Kenneth called Caroline to see if Paddy wanted to play and as luck would have it, Padraig was still in town and eager to take part as well.
Competing alongside more than 40 other teams, the three-time major championship winner played on a team made up of his son Patrick and two of his friends, Alex and Elliot.

Taking place at the golf club he would play with his father as a child, Padraig signed golf bags for the winners of the competition.
As a professional golfer, Padraig played off a +6 handicap for the amateur tournament while his son Paddy, who has only taken golf up seriously in the past few months, played off 17.
The scramble rule set made it an even playing field with each player having to drive three tee shots each, although Padraig was in fine form.
On both the 8th and 14th tees, Padraig drove the green setting his team up for a chance at eagle.
Padraig Harrington’s team ended up on top in the end, with him giving his own bag to the club to raffle off afterwards.
