St Vincent’s had started strong, winning the throw-in and shooting into the intense sun in this Dublin Ladies Gaelic Football Féile Final Division 12.

Number 15, Jodie Russell, had the Marino side in front with a lovely point to get her team going.

However, Liffey Gaels Good Counsel didn’t let Vincents settle with a swift counterattack, leaving Vincents with a lucky escape.

Number 14, Saibh Charles, for the Liffey Gaels side, was a severe threat to Vincents, along with their number 10, Mia Coleman.

The Drimnagh team had St Vincent’s on the back foot coming into halftime, with Mia Coleman scoring a ferocious point off her left boot and Saibh Charles waving the green flag before the whistle blew, with a strong performance from Ella Murphy of St Vincent’s, both sides where showing it was anyone’s game.

St Vincent’s came out in flying form at the start of the second half with a solid display of football from their number 9, Heidi McDonnell.

Jodie Russell scored an outrageous goal to put her team level with Liffey Gaels with ten minutes to go.

The Vincents’ backs were determined. However, they were no match to the unstoppable Saibh Charles, who gave a quick pass-off to her fellow forward, number 16 Millie McGlynn, who had the back of the net rattling again with another goal.

Vincents tried to fight back but weren’t getting the desired result at the opposition’s goals.

Saibh Charles for Liffey Gaels Good Counsel once again had her name on the score sheet with her second goal and finished the game with a sweet hat-trick to see her team finish with a win.

Both sides showed an excellent display of football with key players from the Vincents side, Ella Murphy and Heidi McDonnell and from the Liffey Gaels Good Counsel couldn’t win without players such as Millie McGlynn and Mia Coleman and of course their superstar full forward, Saibh Charles.
