Annual Irish Kidney Association’s ‘Run for a Life’ in Corkagh Park

THE annual Irish Kidney Association’s ‘Run for a Life’ family fun run, takes place in Corkagh Park, on Saturday, May 19 at 12 noon.

Ireland’s fittest family, the Beirne's who run a farm in Leitrim, stepped out with kidney and liver transplant children to encourage the public to take part in the Run For a Life event.

The Beirne family won the coveted title of Ireland’s fittest family in the RTE tv series in 2017, and were joined by kidney transplant recipients from around the country at Corkagh Park.

Run for a Life is open to people of all ages and levels of fitness who can choose to walk, jog or run in the chip timed event, with prizes for winners in a choice of 2.5km, 5km and 10km distances.

There are approximately 550 people in Ireland awaiting life-saving heart, lung, liver, kidney and pancreas transplants.

Thanks to the gift of organ donation almost 3,500 transplanted people in Ireland are enjoying extended life.

Entry fee is €20 adult, €10 child and €45 for a family of up to two adults and four children. All finishers will receive a medal and entry fee also includes soup and sandwiches.
