PLANS for three five-a-side football pitches at Tallaght Community Sports Complex have been granted permission by South Dublin County Council.

Proposals for the Balrothery centre include the provision of five-a-side football pitches on the site of three existing tennis courts.
The all-weather synthetic surface pitches, will be surrounded by new three metre high fencing and ball stop netting, with the provision of eight 10 metre high floodlights.

An objection to the development was lodged on behalf of the Castle Combined Residents Association – citing concerns about increased volume of noise, traffic and the presence of floodlights close to houses.

Council planners determined the proposal accords with the policies and objectives of South Dublin County Council and the county development plan.

Subject conditions include the use of floodlights shall be restricted to between 9am and 11pm Monday to Sunday.

Council planners also state noise levels shall not be so loud, so continuous, so repeated, of such duration or pitch or occurring at such times as to give reasonable cause for annoyance to a person in any residence.

South Dublin County Council granted permission for the development on December 14.
