Applications open up for first 28 cost rentals

APPLICATIONS opened on Wednesday, August 21 by Tuath Housing Association for the first 28 cost rental homes at Foxwood Barn, a new development near Citywest built by Glenveagh Homes.

This initial phase includes 16 one-bedroom apartments and 12 three-bedroom duplexes, with rents set at €1,395 and €1,745 per month respectively, representing a 30 per cent discount when compared to the local area average rent for similar properties.

Tuath Housing, with support from South Dublin County Council, is set to deliver a total of 167 energy-efficient, A-rated cost rental homes in two phases at Foxwood Barn.

Following the initial 28, an additional 139 cost rental homes will be completed by the end of 2025, further expanding this growing community. Located near a wide range of amenities, including shopping, dining, sports facilities, and parks, Foxwood Barn offers an ideal living environment for individuals and families alike.

Funded by the Cost Rental Equity Loan Scheme (CREL) via the Department of Housing and private finance from the Housing Finance Agency, Foxwood Barn’s cost rental homes are designed to ensure long-term affordability and security of tenure. Under the cost rental initiative, rents for the new homes must be a minimum of 25 per cent below the local area average rent for similar property types.

Tuath Housing CEO Sean O’Connor highlighted the organisation’s commitment to providing affordable housing: “At Tuath, we are committed to providing secure, high-quality homes that are affordable for people across Ireland. Foxwood Barn is a prime example of our dedication to expanding cost rental housing, ensuring long-term stability and comfort in a supportive community.”
