Baby Nicolas first new year baby in the Coombe
THE first baby born in the Coombe Hospital in 2023 was Nicolas Andrzej Urban, who was born at 00.55am on New Year’s Day weighing 8 lbs 7oz.
Nicolas is the fourth child, and second son, for Tallaght couple Daniel and Malgorzata Urban, and the new arrival was welcomed by the Master of the Coombe, Professor Michael O’Connell.
“We are very pleased to announce the arrival of the first Coombe baby in 2023 at 00.55am this morning,” said Professor O’Connell on New Year’s Day.
“Both mother and baby are doing very well, and I would like to express my gratitude to the hardworking doctors, midwives and all the associated staff of the Coombe who work to ensure the arrival of, on average, 19 babies every day of the year.
“Today, as well as every day, we are dedicated to providing best-in-class care for mothers and babies.
“In 2022, we also had to contend with ongoing Covid-19 in the community, a significant cyber attack and, like every other hospital, staffing challenges.
“Our Coombe staff resilience and dedication saw us through it all.
“We look forward to continuing to provide first class care for mothers and babies in 2023 and I wish baby Nicolas and his loving parents Daniel and Malgorzata and his sisters Emelia (14) Liliana (4) and brother Liam (9) the very best for the future.”
Over in Holles Street, Terenure woman Lynn McDevitt’s son, Harry, born at three minutes past midnight on New Year’s Day, was the first reported baby born in Ireland in 2023.
