Ballyboden residents angered over state of area after Longitude Festival

Ballyboden residents have hit out at the state the area has been left in after the recent Longitude Festival in Marlay Park – and have organised a community clean-up for tonight.

In a statement released by the Ballyboden Tidy Town organisation, they said they are “bitterly disappointed” that areas including Taylor’s Lane, Ballyboden Way and Ballyboden Walk were not cleaned after Longitude.

According to group they have been “meticulously maintaining this route over the last month, with weekly clean-ups, grass edging, litter picks, etc”.

The statement goes on to say: “There are bottles, cans, litter, underwear, food, cigarette butts, empty bags, vomit, etc strewn along the road, in people’s gardens and in green areas.”

The statement went on to say: “We are organising another Team-up to Clean-up event this evening Tuesday 18 July at Buglers Pub at 7:30pm.

“Our aim this evening is to restore the cleanliness of Taylor’s Lane, Ballyboden Way and Ballyboden Walk to the litter-free condition it was before the Marlay Park concerts.
