Ballyboden St Enda’s lodges plans for new LED floodlights

BALLYBODEN St Enda’s GAA Club has applied for permission for the replacement of floodlighting heads at its all-weather pitch located at Sancta Maria, Ballyboden Way.

The existing floodlights, consisting of 52 halogen lamps, were installed in 2004, according to the parent planning permission application, which requested the installation of floodlighting to a height of 15.2m, alongside a proposed hockey pitch.

The proposal calls for the replacement of these 12 existing halogen heads, totalling 52 lamps, with 42 LED lamps, with no changes to the existing poles necessary.

The installation of LED floodlights offers greater benefits in terms of electricity usage and longevity compared to halogen bulbs, while distributing light more evenly.

In 2006, permission was granted by SDCC for the provision of floodlighting as part of an application for the development of a synthetic GAA pitch.

SDCC’s Planning Department are due to make a decision on this application on November 2.
