CRH reports growth as it tops Irish owned companies ranking

RATHFARNHAM-based CRH was ranked in the top 10 of the Irish Times’ Ireland’s Top 1000 Companies list again this year and came top on their indigenous companies list.

CRH of Stonemason’s Way, Rathfarnham was listed as the eight top Irish company in 2026, two places below their position in the 2025 ranking, but their growth was acknowledged with a top spot on the Irish indigenous list.

The building materials company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange nowadays, while still being headquartered in the local area.

An excerpt from the article on the top performers reads: “Global building materials behemoth CRH, which moved to the New York Stock Exchange in 2023 but is still headquartered in Dublin, slipped two places to eighth despite increasing turnover from €32.8 billion to €33.3 billion with profits also rising from €4.1 billion to €4.2 billion.”

CRH has made some large acquisitions in the last decade or so, taking over Holcim and Lafarge in 2015 for €6.5bn ahead of their merger.

Last year, the company acquired Eco Material Technologies, a supplier of supplementary cementitious materials, for $2.1bn (€1.82bn as of July 2025) and also recently entered a deal worth €600m to purchase a US water treatment firm, Axiom Water, as well as Dallas-based American company Arcosa, who provide infrastructure-related products and solutions, such as building materials, in an $8bn valued deal.

An acquisition of Arcosa, with about $2.9bn in sales and over 6,000 employees, would allow CRH access to construction products like aggregates and crushed concrete, engineered structures for telecom towers, lighting poles and other power utilities, and also potential further gain through US infrastructure spending.

Recently, CRH has seen an increase in revenues in the second quarter of 2026, with a growth of six per cent on the same period last year.

The company noted that this growth was driven by positive pricing momentum, good underlying demand, and contributions from acquisitions.
