Ballymount based Pilsen Auto are going from strength to strength

AFTER reinvesting over €2.5 million to build a brand new showroom from scratch in Ballymount, Skoda experts Pilsen Auto are motoring ahead – reporting a significant increase in sales this year.

The showroom at M50 Business Park opened at Easter this year, and is the first of it’s kind in Europe, according to Michael Kenny, Pilsen Auto General Manager.

“It’s the only one in Europe built to the standards of Skoda, and completed from scratch on a green field site,” said Mr Kenny, who expects to see other auto companies follow suit.

“An Irish architect oversaw the development, we paid for it, but Skoda made sure it was built to their plans and specifications. It has created a clean and very friendly walk-in environment. We wanted a happy medium between clinical and comfortable.”

Pilsen Auto are part of the Redco Auto Holdings Group, and have a full sales, service and parts department available at their Ballymount home in M50 Business Park, employing up to 30 staff.

An improving market has made a big difference to the company, who reported a 40 per cent increase in sales this year.

Mr Kenny continued: “The market is up about 10 per cent. Our new sales are up 40 per cent, and our used car sales are up about 25 per cent. Now, you can get such good value on a Skoda, either through sales, services, parts, finances, and good warranty whether it is an old or new car.

“We have PCP (Personal Contract Plan) offers, which allow you to buy a new car with affordable monthly payments. We also have a programme for approved used vehicles, a good financial package, with up to two year’s warranty. We tend to take in a lot of non-franchise models for this programme, with the New Superb and Octavia models tending to take in other cars like Mercedes, and BMW.”

Potential diesel increases likely in the October Budget, will have an impact on diesel motors like Skoda, but Mr Kenny feels the reliability of Skoda and improved mechanics outweigh the negatives.

“We have a one litre at 115 HP, that is the same as a two litre 15 years ago,” he said.

Pilsen Auto have a wide range of used Skoda’s available – including the Yeti, Octavia, Superb, the new Fabia, and the sporty Rapid Spaceback.
