Biopharma firm Takeda donates €180k of equipment to TU Dublin

BIOPHARMA giant Takeda has donated over €180,000 worth of high-performance chemistry equipment to Technological University Dublin’s Tallaght - Campus.
As part of their local CSR programme, Takeda Ireland, donated five fully automated, temperature controlled, high-performance liquid chromatography analytical instruments to the campus chemistry department.

The instruments are used for the identification of impurities in medicines, as well as the assessment of the purity of medicines at very small volumes.
The state-of-the-art equipment will be used as a training device to allow students at the university to gain practical hands-on experience with industry quality machinery and will also be used as part of TU Dublin, Tallaght’s research programmes where they will be used in the study and development of new drugs and therapies.
Ex-TU Dublin, Tallaght student Ken Kinsella (now a Quality Control Executive at Takeda) said he was delighted to be able to return to his old college with such good news.
“I know this equipment will be greatly appreciated and will really help the students with their practical work. It will give them a good taste of industry-standard operational functions,’’ he said.

John Behan, Head of the Department of Science, TU Dublin, Tallaght said that this donation by Takeda Ireland is a significant contribution to the school.
“We’re very grateful to Takeda for the donation of this top-of-the-range equipment which will definitely have a positive effect on teaching and research in the Department of Applied Science,” he said.
