Boden, Lucan and Jude’s card exciting SFC wins

BALLYBODEN St Enda’s, Lucan Sarsfields and St Jude’s enjoyed good wins over weekend as the Dublin Senior One Football Championship continued to gather pace.

At Parnell Park on Sunday, ‘Boden found themselves 0-10 to 0-6 adrift at the midway stage of their Group One clash with Na Fianna.

However, an Alan Flood goal brought them roaring back into the contest on the resumption and with Dublin senior panellist Ryan Basquel amassing five points from play, Anthony Rainbow’s side ultimately secured a 1-14 to 0-14 triumph.

On the same day in O’Toole Park, St Jude’s recorded an impressive 3-17 to 1-15 victory at the expense of St Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh.

Thanks to goals from David Mannix, Alan Connolly and Ronan Joyce, the Templeogue outfit emerged with the spoils in convincing fashion.

Heading into the final round of the group, Jude’s find themselves joint-top in Group Four with Lucan Sarsfields on three points.

At Parnell Park on Saturday, Brendan Gallagher registered an excellent haul of 1-5 as Lucan edged out Round Tower Lusk on a final score of 1-12 to 1-11.

Having lost out narrowly to champions Ballymun Kickhams in the opening round of Group Three just over a fortnight ago, Thomas Davis bounced back with a 0-11 to 0-9 triumph over Clontarf at O’Toole Park on Saturday.

At the same venue on the following day, Ballinteer St John’s ignited their Group Two campaign with a 2-15 to 1-13 win against Castleknock.

In the Senior Two Championship, Templeogue Synge Street held onto top spot in Group Three with a 2-13 to 0-13 victory over Erin’s Isle at Dolphin Park on Saturday.

Dublin senior footballer Niall Scully and his former inter-county underage colleague Killian O’Gara bagged goals as ‘Synger’ made it two wins from two in this year’s competition.

Despite the best efforts of Scott Fulham, who contributed five points from frees, St Anne’s suffered a 1-16 to 0-9 home reversal at the hands of St Brigid’s in Group One on the same day.

There was disappointment also for St Mary’s Saggart in Group Four as a Harry Gardiner goal earned table-toppers Parnell’s a 1-9 to 0-11 success at Pairc Mhuire.
