Boden set for camogie showdown
BALLYBODEN St Enda’s senior camogie side head into their first county final in a decade this Friday when they face Dublin camogie kingpins St Vincents in Parnell Park.
Vincents are striving to achieve three county titles in a row for the second time in the last nine years.
In their way are Brian O’Shaughnessy’s charges, who will be looking to avenge their two-point defeat they suffered to the back-to-back winners earlier in the championship.
Both sides come into the game following mammoth semi-final contests, after Boden went all the way to extra time before defeating St Jude’s by the minimum, while Vincents defeated Lucan by two.
Vincents have been in the last five Dublin finals, while Boden’s last appearance was in 2014 when they sealed five in a row, against their same opponents on Friday.
However, the dynamic at the top of Dublin camogie has shifted completely since then, with Vincents the heavy favourites for Friday, having won every game so far in championship, including a two point victory over Boden without the exploits of their marquee player Aisling Maher.
Regardless, Boden will come into Friday full of confidence and belief that they can end Vincents era of dominance in the county.
Their only defeat to date in the championship came at the hands of Vincents, and they will look to Sadie Codd, Grace Walsh, Martha O’Donoghue and Hannah Leddy to provide solidity in defence in the wake of the scoring talents of Aisling Maher and Ally Maguire.
Eimear O’Leary and 18-year-old Emma Moran will be the main threats up the other end for Boden.
Martha O’Donoghue and Daniele White are the only survivors from that county final winning team a decade ago.
They will be well prepared for Vincents, with former Dublin intercounty player Sorcha Farrelly operating in O’Shaughnessy’s backroom team, alongside Eoin Reid, Gerry White and kit man Peter Wall.
7:30 is the throw in for the 2024 Dublin Camogie final on Friday night, when Ballyboden St Enda’s will look to win their first county title in ten years.
