Boxing coach at the club, Eddie Hyland said: “They broke in through the back and took the gloves and I went to the club that evening and saw that they were gone.”

Eddie says that it was the power of social media that ultimately got two of the three gloves returned to the club.

“Everyone shared the post on social media that I put up and I got a phone call a couple of hours later that they were located and the guy that was offered them brought them back up to the club,” Eddie told The Echo.

Although only two out of three gloves were returned, Eddie said that he thinks because of the amount of people that shared the post it would have made it difficult for the thieves to sell the gloves.

The gloves that were signed by Katie Taylor are still missing from the club. “The person probably gave them away to somebody because they were in a case they probably thought it would look good in somebody’s bar,” Eddie explained.
