Bucket collection raises over €650 for Red Cross

A BUCKET collection in SuperValu in Firhouse last Saturday raised over €650 for the Tallaght branch of the Irish Red Cross.

Senior and youth members of the branch took part in the fundraiser which was held from 10.30am to five in the afternoon.

The shoppers gave generously, with the local branch receiving a total of €681.30 –that will go towards a number of services and equipment.

The services and items include training equipment, arts and crafts supplies, educational supplies, team bonding exercises and youth uniforms.

Elaine Boyd from the Tallaght branch of the Irish Red Cross said: “It went really well.

“I’d like to thank everyone that helped out, from the youths to senior members of the Irish Red Cross in Tallaght, and also Peter from SuperValu Firhouse for letting us hold the bucket collection.”

Commenting on the overall work of the branch, Ms Boyd said the group can provide first aid at events, and they’re still taking on youth members and youth leaders.
