Bus service provider Go-Ahead awarded ISO environmental and energy accreditation

BALLYMOUNT public transport bus service provider Go-Ahead Ireland, the has been awarded ISO 14001 environmental management and ISO 50001 energy management accreditations.

The achievement of the accreditations further aligns the company with international best practices in environment and energy management.

Externally audited by ISO certification bodies over the course of six months, the Go-Ahead Ireland team undertook several specific projects to demonstrate that the companies environmental and energy management processes met the criteria of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.

ISO 14001 is the international standard that specifies requirements for an effective environmental management system, providing a framework that an organization can follow.

The ISO 50001 provides a framework to achieve energy goals and reducing depletion of energy resources, helping to mitigate climate change, and improving the efficiency within an organization’s operations.

Andrew Edwards, Managing Director of Go-Ahead Ireland said: “This is a very significant achievement for Go-Ahead Ireland, reflective of the collective efforts and focus of our team.

“Aligned to the activities of Go-Ahead group internationally, and our role with the National Transport Authority, we have set ambitious carbon reduction targets to support the national and local effort in achieving Irelands decarbonisation targets.

“This accreditation was achieved through the implementation of an integrated management system, ensuring all energy, waste, water, noise and air quality data is recorded, and monitored with set targets to demonstrate continuous improvement.

“Delivered by cross-functional projects that are illustrative of our commitment to sustainable business practices, these accreditations will not only benefit our business but also the communities that we serve daily.”
