A COOKERY demonstration with celebrity chef Kevin Dundon from Clondalkin is being held in order to raise funds for Sacred Heart School Sruleen.

The Green Isle Hotel previously hosted the popular chef Neven Maguire in 2016 for the same cause, and now it’s Kevin’s turn to demonstrate his considerable cooking skills on November 16.

Sruleen Parents Association are raising funds to be able to afford the basic equipment required by the school such as books and sports equipment for the 476 students that currently attend Sacred Heart.

Melissa Maguire from Sruleen Parents Association said that they “have to fundraise for anything extra that children do to help support the principal and the school".

Melissa said: “When the children get to Croke Park in sports or something like that we have to pay extra to get them transport there, so that’s what this is for.”

Parents and students alike got together at the Green Isle on October 25 to gain some awareness around the fundraising event with a cookery demonstration of their own.

Tickets for the demonstration cost €20 with all proceeds going straight to the school, and the ticket price will also include a food village to enjoy a sampling of artisan foods and a complimentary glass of wine while you can also have an early Christmas shop in the handmade craft stalls before the show.

Doors open at 6.30pm for the pre-show reception and the demonstration with Kevin kicks-off at 8pm

“The first prize in our raffle gives the winner a one-day voucher for Kevin’s cookery school in Dunbrody House,” said Melissa.

She continued: “You’re not just going to watch him cook, it’s a whole night with our artisan food village and music from a harpist [Orla Kelly] and a retired men’s group [The Rams].”
