Celebrity chef Neven Maguire will show off his considerable culinary skills at a cookery demonstration in the Green Isle Hotel on November 16 especially for the Parents Association for Sacred Heart School, Sruleen, Clondalkin.

The parents are hoping to raise funds for an all-weather pitch at the school.

The pitch was recently granted planning permission, but the school are obliged to self-raise a percentage of the costs involved.

Students and parents launched a cookery demonstration at the Green Isle on Friday, to whip up awareness for the initiative.

They are actively looking for a sponsor for the event, and are also selling tickets for entry to the food village, which will feature artisan food and craft stalls.

Melissa Maguire, Sruleen Parents Association, said they have been on Neven’s waiting list “since December 2013.”

Melissa said: “Sacred Heart primary school is a fantastic school which has 450 students, and a dedicated staff.

“As with many organisations in the current climate, we have to fundraise for some basic equipment required by the school.”

The event has a capacity of 500 seats.

Tickets are €20, and doors will be open from 6.30pm, with the event starting at 8pm.

“There will be a raffle on the night – Neven has kindly donated dinner for two and an overnight stay in the MacNean House and Restaurant in Cavan as a prize,” said Melissa.

She continued: “The demonstration promises to be a great evening of food and chat as Neven shares his expertise and passion for food with the audience. We are using Neven’s audio-visual recommendation Shay Spain, who will display all logo and advertisements on large screens at the event.”

All attending will receive a complimentary glass of wine and a brochure will be available.
