Rosabel’s Rooms – a charity which supports parents following the sudden loss of a child – will be the recipient when the Lisheen Springs Golf Club in Brittas play host to a charity golf day this Friday, August 28 in aid of the cause.

The Galway-based charity was set up by Suzanne McClean and Gary Monroe following the sudden and unexpected death of their sixteen-month-old daughter, Rosabel, in 2017.

Rosabel’s Rooms provide comfort and support, in partnership with the Irish Hospice Foundation, to the families of children who have passed away suddenly, by offering counselling and financial support, and developing family-focused bereavement suites in hospitals all over Ireland.

John Hendrick, the organiser of the charity golf day, told The Echo:

“The work that Rosabel’s Rooms do in hospitals all over Ireland is amazing, so, with that in mind, every little way I can help means a great deal to Suzanne and Gary.

“The charity helps by providing a room of dignity in hospitals all over the country, and with their Room-to-Heal Fund they provide financial help to families all over Ireland, to help with time off work and funeral costs.”

The golf day’s participants will be teeing off for a good cause, and they will also get the opportunity to finesse their golfing skills while enjoying the atmosphere on the day.

“On the day, the players will have the opportunity to display their golf skills on the exquisitely well-looked-after Lisheen Springs Golf Club in Brittas,” added Mr Hendrick.

“[There will be] an on-course barbecue during the round, top prizes on offer for winners, and dinner in the clubhouse after the golf.

“It will be an all-round fun day with great craic, away from the unsavoury times we are living through at the moment.”

Mr Hendrick added that he wanted to express his sincere gratitude to all of the golf day’s sponsors who have already kindly donated to Rosabel’s Rooms.

The charity golf day will be a team-of-four event, with golf, prizes for overall winners, second and third, longest drive and nearest the pin, and food will also be provided on the day.

The cost for a team is €200, but if you can’t make it to play, then tees boxes or holes can be sponsored for €100 each.

If you wish to enter a team or sponsor the event in any way you can contact John on 086 179 5070.
