A look back at Tallafest2018

A look back at Tallafest2018

By Mark Keane

Tallafest was a resounding success over the weekend as people came out in their droves to celebrate their community and the sunny weather.

Dublin Fire Brigade’s pipe band opened Tallafest in style, followed by a number of local faces and businesses, including Tallaght Person of the Year 2017, Sinead Tighe, Tadg Riordan – who showcased a number of vintage cars – stilt walkers, and of course, Paddy Drac.

The event had something for everyone, as over 100 groups, businesses and activities participated in this year’s festival, including face painting.

Tallaght Choral Society wowed onlookers as it performed on the steps of the Priory, while Ms Tallaght, June Rodgers and Tallaght environmentalist Gar Tyrell also made an appearance.

The Echo also got to meet its next generation of readers as a number of children visited the stand and posed for photographs.

Other highlights included stilt-wearing jugglers; St Mark’s Taekwondo School breaking wooden boards with their feet; and Martina The Goat

One Echo reporter also got a little too close to a gaggle of geese, requiring Jess the sheep dog to give a helping paw to get them back on course.

With the soaring heat on the day, hats were a welcome addition!

With Tallafest coming to a close, there was only one way to mark its end for another year…
