Christmas festive concert celebrates world traditions

A CHRISTMAS concert celebrating festive traditions from around the world, and featuring a variety of choirs and dancers, was held in St Mary’s Priory in Tallaght last Friday night.

Attendees were treated to performances by The Anima Choiste Filipino Choir from Springfield, the Syro Malaba Choir, dancers from Fettercairn, and the event organisers, The Vine Group.

The Vine Group is a musical and charitable group made up of parishioners from the Church of the Incarnation in Fettercairn, St Thomas the Apostle in Jobstown and St Mary’s Priory.

Speaking about the concert, Joe Geoghegan from The Vine Group told The Echo: “The concert went very well, and it’s still available on The Vine Group’s Facebook page for anyone who wants to watch it.

“It was very joyful. The performance by the Anima Choiste Filipino Choir was like something out of Broadway or the West End, we also had a couple of Irish performers who sang, and the Syro Malaba Choir were awesome.

“People got really caught up in it and carried away.”

There was also a special guest on the evening who made a surprise appearance, much to the delight of the younger concert attendees.

“The man in red showed up and the kids at the concert were very happy,” added Joe. “We also gave out a lot of spot prizes and hampers on the night.”

Joe added that The Vine Group is looking forward to staging another Christmas concert again next year, and he wanted to thank all of the businesses who donated the spot prizes for the raffle at this year’s concert.
